CardioVisio – Contactless acquisition of vital parameters
The acquisition of vital parameters typically requires electrodes or mechanical transducers attached to the skin/body. By using cameras, vital parameters like heart rate and respiratory rate can be assessed without any contact. Beyond such standard parameters, the technique provides a means to assess the spatio-temporal blood distribution and estimate hemodynamic quantities that are otherwise hardly traceable.
Due to its outstanding application conditions monitoring by using cameras is not restricted to clinical applications but opens up novel out-of-hospital applications. Apart of being a contactless means to acquire information on vital parameters and hemodynamics, the camera-based technique can be implemented as low-priced, portable and self-explanatory diagnostically means accounting for wide applicability and high market potential.
The project aims at the further development of the technique by the conceptual design, implementation and evaluation of systems and methods to acquire vital parameter by using cameras.
