From functional Anatomy to virtual Surgery

We developed a virtual 3D model of the human eye featuring a complete catalogue of all relevant anatomical structures and cell types. The application of our software is intuitive and interactive and will be more informative compared to existing animations (i.e. demonstration of eye functions, pathologies, therapeutic and surgery techniques).

This powerful tool has been designed for the international market as an attractive teaching and learning tool for ophthalmologists and students as well as a training tool for surgeons simulating established and innovative eye surgery techniques. It can also be used as a communication tool for comprehensible patient information and scientific presentations. Additionally, the Eye Explorer provides essential anatomical support in designing an innovative surgical system (SAIS) for a new treatment of progressive myopia.

The Eye Explorer is being developed in collaboration with Effigos AG, the Translational Centre for Regenerative Medicine and Department of Ophthalmology, University of Leipzig.
